A Centerfold Production. “Outside it may be raining,
but in here it’s entertaining” The Moulin
Rouge is one of France’s oldest and most famous

Can Can, which caught the imagination of many a movie
maker. Frequented by misfits and Bohemians such as the
artist Toulouse Lautrec and the very rich who enjoyed
“slumming it” with the very poor. Follow
the history of the Moulin Rouge from its early days
as a Bordello to current day where it has achieved legitimacy
as a nightclub hosting international artists like Frank
Sinatra and Edith Piaff. Centrefold have prepared an

RIVERS OF THE WORLD, Informative Outdoor Art Exhibition,
at the Durban Botanical Gardens. The ever-proactive
British Council is bringing its outdoor touring exhibition
to Durban. In 2007/8 learners from various schools and
educational centres in London (UK); Shanghai (China);
Kolkata (India); Cairo (Egypt); Sao Paulo & Recife
(Brazil); the State of Veracruz (Mexico) and Cape Town
worked with artists to create a series of magnificent
large-format artworks inspired by their city’s
river. The artwork, and accompanying narrative, is being
displayed in this innovative touring exhibition. The
exhibition is travelling to each of the riverside locations
in each of the participating cities. Based on the astonishing
response to their former British Council environmental-themed
exhibition, the hugely successful Zero Carbon City exhibition,
the British Council is including Durban in the international
tour of Rivers of the World. The Gardens’ education
officer, Martin Clement, is encouraging school groups
to visit the exhibition and learn about the world’s
major rivers, some of the issues affecting them, and
the people who engage with them. There are special educational
kits for school groups who visit the exhibition. The
Gardens are open 7 days a week. Entry is free and all

HEALTH & THERAPIES
In the forefront of scientific discovery, research
& development, HERBAL AFRICA brings you the rich
knowledge & wisdom of African herbal medicines.
The herbal way does not represent an "alternative"
medicine method; it represents a way of life where its
effectiveness is very often greater, less intrusive
and less harmful than conventional drugs, merging traditional
values & knowledge with scientific & modern
components in order to provide affordable, effective
and novel medicines. Asthma, cancer, diabetes, epilepsy,
malaria, sinusitis, stress, tumours and many other debilitating
conditions can now be safely and effectively avoided
or treated, simply and very cost-effectively. The properties
of the immune system boosters and anti-viral formulas
are much admired by practitioners and patients alike.

NETWORK SPINAL ANALYSIS [NSA]: Do you have back pain,
old injuries, or need a shift in your life? NSA might
be the answer! NSA is gentle chiropractic, targeting
the nervous system directly through specific spinal
contacts. When emotional & physical stresses occur
& we are too busy or lack the resources, complete
healing does not occur. The nervous system maintains
rather than repairs these injuries and, with time, we
shift a little more towards defence & away from
wellness where life flows easily. NSA re-educates the
nervous system so that the body is able to deal more
effectively with old tensions & integrate new experiences,
supporting growth & development. NSA will equip
you with the healing strategies necessary to live fully.

27 Dec, at Mahasiddha Buddhist Centre, Malvern, Dbn.
Contemplating our own mortality leads to a profoundly
worry-free and happy life. By cutting through our worldly

all our ordinary worries and anxieties. On this meditation
day-course Gen Sangdak will explain the meditation on
death and how it destroys our desirous attachment, thereby
leading us to an enjoyable and successful spiritual
life. “When we have practiced many different meditations
we shall experience their effects, but it is the meditation
on death that leaves the biggest impression on our mind,”

CAN YOU HELP?
DOMESTIC ANIMAL RESCUE: I single-handedly
run an organisation called Domestic Animal Rescue from
my family’s home in Alverstone, KZN. All
the cats and other animals in my care are from previously
disadvantaged circumstances, where their lives were
either in immediate danger, or they were severely neglected
or simply abandoned. Most of my cats are from Shongweni
Township. My friend, Cynthia, cares for a large group
of orphans, who have been helping us remove cats from
threatening situations, where children either burn them
alive, stone them to death, drown them or play football
with them. Other cats aren’t wanted in many
households, so rather than see them killed by people,
the orphans make these people aware that Cynthia and
I will come and remove the cats. I also get distress
calls from suburbs in and around Durban, including factories
and trucking yards. The cats are immediately taken to
my vet, (Grant Emmerich of Blair Athol Vet), and are
often treated for illnesses and poor nutrition. When
healthy enough, they are all sterilized, (at a cost
of R150 male / R300 female), vaccinated at a cost of
R50 each, and de-wormed, (varying between R20 and R50
depending of severity of infestation). Fortunately
my vet does not charge consultation fees, yet pharmaceutical
costs for medical treatment are astronomical!
Presently, cat food costs me R500 per week. This does
not include the dogs, birds and pony in my care. I am
very strict with my adoption process, and an adoption
form needs to be completed with all the persons personal
details, (as per SPCA instruction), in order for me
to follow up on the animals well being. I do not like
taking cash donations, and would rather receive cat
food, dog food, birdseed, animal blankets and baskets,
sleeping kennels, toys etc. For those interested in
supporting efforts to help feed and cloth the orphans,
food parcels, clothing, shoes and socks are always appreciated.
If you would like to be involved or would like more
information call Melanie 084 868 0442

CLYDE MITCHELL is generously undertaking a PILGRIMAGE

GEOZONE ONLINE: We are currently putting together a
website: www.GeozoneOnline.com
with the aim of nothing less than "Romancing the
Stone" where we take you on a long, slow waltz
down through the millennia and to beguile you with the
breathtakingly beautiful machinations of the Earth and
the biosphere which it sustains. Explore the world
of volcanoes and meteorites, tsunamis and earthquakes,
as well as more topical issues of global warming and
mass extinctions. In this regard GeoZone is an
earthshaking reference tool to a wide range of topical
subjects including Volcanoes, Earthquakes, Meteorites,
Dinosaurs, Global Warming and Climate Change. These
topics are getting plenty of airtime on National Geographic
and the Discovery Channel but the point is, we don't
have to travel to exotic locations to find it.
Right here in your own back yard are fantastic examples
of the geological history of Planet Earth, which you
can go out and see it for yourself. And perhaps as the
cherry on the top we have a GeoKids section with heaps
of cool stuff on dinosaurs, volcanoes, earthquakes and
meteorites, as well as toys, posters and games which
will take you back to the long lost world of the Triassic,
Jurassic and Cretaceous. Visit Allan Davie's blogspot:

WIDOWED NETWORK SA www.widowed.co.za:
This most valuable support resource is the brainchild
of Tash Reddy who, with her young son Daniel, suffered
the tragic & traumatic loss of their husband &
father. In trying to find ways to deal with her loss,
face the world & be honest with Daniel, Tash found
that there was no existing support network specifically
for this extremely difficult & emotional time in one's
life. From small beginnings in Dbn, it is now operating
nationally, with online support & discussions, as
well as group meetings in various areas. Anyone who has
lost someone close to them will know how difficult it
is to be around others... and how difficult others find
it to be in their company, not knowing what to say or
how to say it. Why close friends suddenly stay away, or
no longer call, children asking simple questions, to which
there appears to be no simple answer. Advice for suicide
survivors, and for friends & family of the bereaved,
dealing with the anger, guilt, faith, sudden chronic health
problems, and so much more. In memory of her beloved husband
Denver, Tash is now dedicating her life to the healing
process for anyone in similar circumstances. Contact Tash

of MOUTH in KZN INFORMATION
Submitting Notices, Ads or Changes: If you have something
you would like to tell people about, all you need to
do is send through a brief notice along with your contact
name, telephone number & email address. The Publishers
will, at their discretion, include it in the next issue.
Please note that no graphics or attachments will be
included and notices will appear in plain text format
only.
To keep the newsletter interesting & varied, we
try to send out new information in each newsletter,
so new material will be given preference: if necessary,
re-word your notice. You will need to resubmit each
time you want your notice to appear. PLEASE, when submitting
your notices, send them in as brief a format as you
can, in plain text only, just like a "classified ad"
in the newspaper… NO PICS OR ATTACHMENTS, please!!
Send to Word-of-Mouth@tiscali.co.za in plain text format
only, in the body of the email.
Ideally, notices should be approximately 450 characters,
or 50 to 60 words maximum, if possible. As this is a
"spare time" initiative, there is very limited time
in which to edit & reformat material, so those who
send it through in the correct format have a far greater
chance of being included!
Feedback: We'd be most interested to hear about any
response to your ad or notice, as well as any other
comments you may have about the newsletter. When responding
to an ad or notice in WORD of MOUTH in KZN, please tell
them that you found their information here!
Privacy & Integrity: The Publishers undertake that
neither the mailing list nor any contact information,
will be disclosed, sold, loaned or otherwise passed
on to any other party for any use whatsoever. Integrity
is of the utmost importance to the Publishers of WORD
of MOUTH in KZN. Your email address was acquired by
honourable means and is being used in good faith. It
is not our intention to offend or to send emails to
anyone who may not wish to receive them.
Subscribe: Its free and safe. We value your privacy
and it is easy to unsubscribe.

Unsubscribe: Should you wish to be removed from the
mailing list you may do so very easily either click
on the button above or from the bottom of each mailing
sent. Or, simply send an email to Word-of-Mouth@tiscali.co.za
with UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject line.
